What is the difference between a pawn and a loan?
A Pawn is what is commonly referred to as a collateral loan. Which means the customer brings in an item of value into the Pawnshop. That item will be the security for the pawn, and will be held until the item is redeemed. At the time of the pawn/loan the pawn specialist will ask the customer how much money He or She would like to Borrow? The customer will usually have an amount of money in mind. An agreement occurs and the pawn/loan is made. If the borrower does not redeem the pledged goods, or enter into a new transaction for the pledged goods by the maturity date, the item is forfeited to the pawnshop. There is no reporting for bad credit. The customer IS NOT required to redeem the pledged goods.
